Historical Photographs
Photographs from the time of the Invasion have become a significant use of primary evidence in the modern day and to historians. Such photographs give the audience a first hand look into what life was like at the settlement and gives an example of how many troops Maori had to resist on November 5, 1881. This makes these photographs of high significance.
Modern Day Artistic Interpretation
Modern artists have created artworks which reveal their perspectives and understanding on the Invasion of Parihaka. Thus, this reveals the significance of the Invasion to the modern day audience as the Invasion is till remembered and commemorated through such art pieces.
Advertisement for Parihaka Exhibition
This animation was used to advertise an exhibition of art, poetry and songs about Parihaka, held at the City Gallery in Wellington in 2000–2001. The nature of the advertisement is quite dramatic and highlights the nature the Invasion might have been fought in. The significance of this advertisement is that it is introducing the modern day audience into the Invasion of Parihaka and will further inform the audience at the exhibition in Wellington.
